Subnautica

This week, Subnautica came out of its shell. On December 16 the doors were flung open on Steam Early Access. For all of us here it has been exciting, nerve-wracking, and challenging. It’s great to have you all with us.

In launching Early Access, we’ve committed to being an extremely open development team. We’ve been that way throughout Subnautica’s whole development cycle, but if you have just joined us, welcome. Normally, we do a weekly updates that discuss some of what we’ve gotten up to each week, and these posts usually co-incide with the release of a new update on Steam.

We can never fit even close to everything in these blog posts. For more complete information about what has changed in Subnautica in the past week, visit the changes and checkins list, and the Trello board. Also remember that if you want faster updates, you can opt in to ‘Experimental’ branch.

Because we released on Early Access this week, and because the holidays are coming up, we’re operating on a slightly different time table to normal. A new update will go out on Steam default branch next Tuesday, and the associated progress post will go up that day as well.

In the mean time, there are a bunch of ways in which you can give us feedback on Subnautica in its Early Access state. Your feedback is very important to us, and we regularly make development decisions influenced by what you are saying. We hope you are having a blast playing Subnautica Early Access, and can’t wait to bring you an update on Tuesday next week!
