The Guru Beta Tournament

Posted by unknownworlds 10 years ago

There comes a time in every game’s life when it must stand up, start walking, and show people what it is made of. Over the next two months, Natural Selection 2 will start to stand. As it does so, more and more people will have the opportunity to show the world how good they are, how skilled their play is, how tight their teamwork is.

Often, competitive communities are built not born. The thrills, spills, drama, and excitement of a competitive scene is seen as a means at not an end. A way to build popularity, rather than celebrate the play itself.

Not this community, not this game. Today marks a milestone for Natural Selection 2. It is the first of what will be many tournament announcements. Tournaments are happening not because a developer wanted them to happen, but because a community caused them to happen.

The depth, breadth, committment, and professionalism of NS2 competitive players has spoken for itself. It demands the creation of stage, it deserves the limelight, it has earned the attention of thousands of live viewers.

It is our pleasure to today announce the Guru Beta Tournament, kindly sponsored by RTSGuru and FPSGuru, with prizes by Roccat.

If you are part of a competitive team, and would like to participate in this tournament, please email tournaments@unknownworlds.com with your team name, and contact details. Be sure that your entire team will be available to compete at the times in the image above.

The exact format, prizes, and will be announced over the coming days.

Over the coming weeks, serveral more tournaments will be announced. NS2 is standing up.
