On Xbox Performance

Posted by acedude 7 years ago

Today we’ve released two updates on Xbox One: Precursor and Castles & Coffee. Both bring bundles of new content to Subnautica. Both take steps towards improving performance to acceptable levels. Performance on Xbox One is still not good enough. We know it, and we appreciate you continuing to give us feedback on this point.

There will not ever be a single update that lifts performance to an acceptable level. The road to good frame-rates is, and will continue to be, a gradual one. Each step building on the last, each step leading to the next.

Precursor and Castles & Coffee don’t bring good performance on their own. They do make progress towards that end goal. Our next updates will …

PRAWN Update Comprehensive Changelog

Posted by acedude 8 years ago

Hi everyone! We hope you’re having a blast in the PRAWN Update. Be sure to visit the PRAWN Update site to see what’s inside. What follows is a less exciting, more granular look at PRAWN’s contents.

Beyond the headline features, PRAWN includes a plethora of smaller changes. Some of these changes fix (or attempt to fix) bugs, others change balance, or tweak the way the story unfolds.

While many of these changes are directly applicable to PRAWN, some of them will be fixing or changing things introduced during PRAWN’s development. So they are not all relevant, but we have done our best to strip this list to only include changes made since the last major update.

Subnautica on Steam with the Oculus Rift

Posted by acedude 8 years ago

Subnautica is now available on Oculus Home, but the Steam version has stopped working with Oculus VR. Don’t worry, this is only temporary. Here’s an explanation from Max as to why it has happened, and how it will start working again:

“The Steam version of Subnautica is currently only compatible with the pre-1.0 Rift SDK.  Once players have the shipping Rift or upgrade the firmware on their DK2s they will not be able to play on that version. I’m pretty sure that it won’t even recognize that you have a Rift and it will just run in 2D mode.”

We currently have an internal version of Subnautica that runs on the new Rift SDK. Once it has completed essential
