PlayStation divers, a new update has been released! This update contains some long requested features and bug fixes.

  • The Bladderfish scarcity in Safe Shallows is now resolved. After fishing, they should properly repopulate.
  • We’ve added a language selector to the main menu. You can now override your default language with any of our community sourced languages. Language options have expanded to include Swedish, Chinese (Simplified), Latvian, and Slovak.
  • Back by popular, community demand, theDeveloper menu option returns to consoles! Warning: some of these options can introduce instability to your game. To access this menu while in a game, press the OPTIONS button to bring up the menu, then press the right and left bumper buttons together at the same time.

Subnautica PS4 Update 1.07 Released

Good news, PlayStation subnauts! Update 1.07 has been released. We’ve been working hard to address one of the most painful issues for PlayStation players: Crashes caused by Subnautica sucking up too much memory. 1.07 doesn’t fix all crashing, but we have eliminated lots of crashes in the end-game sequence.

Here’s the full changelog:

  • Photo albums now save properly
  • Removed a false wall in the Aurora locker room
  • Seamoth docking now more reliable
  • Optimizations to address memory related crashes in end game

Subnautica PS4 Update 1.05 Released

PS4 updates are coming in fast and hot! We know you are experiencing lots of bugs, so we are trying to update quickly. 1.05 does not fix every bug, but it does fix quite a few. Here’s a list:

  • Added a feedback button
  • The game will now pause when backgrounded
  • Integrated stability fixes
  • Integrated performance optimizations
  • Fixed Reefback erratic behavior and missing plants
  • Fixed an issue where screenshots could display at 1/4 size
  • Fixed an issue where floaters were not attaching to surfaces
  • Fixed an issue where the cyclops vehicle bay hatch could spawn
  • incorrectly

Subnautica Playstation Release Date

The wait is nearly over. Subnautica is coming to PlayStation 4 on December 4th, 2018. You will be able to buy Subnautica digitally or on a physical disk. If you are in Europe, physical disk sales will start three days later, on December 7th.

It’s important we be honest about dates. We’re very confident we will hit December 4th, but we can never be 100% sure of any date, ever. Game development is a wild ride. Unexpected issues could still cause a last minute delay. If something happens, we will keep you updated.

Will Subnautica support PSVR?

Subnautica is coming to PlayStation 4, woot! Will it support PS4 Virtual Reality (VR)? This is a tricky question. The short answer is: Probably not.

The long answer is: We haven’t made any decisions about PSVR. However, the performance challenges of stuffing Subnautica onto console are already daunting. In this context, ‘performance’ means how fast the game runs, or how many ‘Frames Per Second’ (FPS) we can achieve.

High frame rates are crucial for VR. We are already battling hard achieve stable, consistent FPS above 30 on consoles, and VR requires 60+. Perhaps in the future, once we have achieved strong performance on PS4, we could revisit the question. But for now, it’s safe to assume PSVR is …

Subnautica is coming to PlayStation 4! Ever since the earliest days of Subnautica on Steam, we have received constant requests for Subnautica to come to Sony’s console. Well, we heard you, and we are thrilled to be able to announce that we are working to make your requests a reality.

We have partnered with Panic Button, experts in console development, to help us bring Subnautica to the PS4. Panic Button are also helping to accelerate development on Subnautica Xbox.

Millions of people have enjoyed Subnautica on Steam, and in the as-yet-unfinished Xbox Preview. We hope that many more will now be able to experience the wonder, peril, and adventure that lies beneath the waves on Planet 4546B.
