Subnautica Dev Update 7: Post SEA

Last week, Subnautica was released on Steam Early Access. Since then, over 11,000 games of Subnautica have been played. That’s crazy! Subnautica’s development was already pretty open before December 16th, but now the flood gates have opened.

We’re absolutely swimming in ideas and feedback. Treading water is boring, so naturally we’ve been diving into all sorts of stuff in the days since release, and a new development build is available on Steam. If you have Subnautica in your Steam library (get it here), you will receive the update automatically.

This week, Subnautica came out of its shell. On December 16 the doors were flung open on Steam Early Access. For all of us here it has been exciting, nerve-wracking, and challenging. It’s great to have you all with us.

In launching Early Access, we’ve committed to being an extremely open development team. We’ve been that way throughout Subnautica’s whole development cycle, but if you have just joined us, welcome. Normally, we do a weekly updates that discuss some of what we’ve gotten up to each week, and these posts usually co-incide with the release of a new update on Steam.
