An Update About the Next Subnautica

Posted by Donya 2 months ago

Hello Subnauts,

A few of you noticed some information shared online by our publisher, KRAFTON đŸ•”

While some of the news is exciting, we’d like to clarify:

  • Early Access is not intended for release in 2024, but we plan to share a lot more information later this year!
  • In reference to “Games-as-a-Service,” we simply plan to continually update the game for many years to come, just like the previous two Subnautica games. Think our Early Access update model, expanded. No season passes. No battle passes. No subscription.
  • The game is not multiplayer-focused. Co-op will be an entirely optional way to play the game. You’ll be able to enjoy the game as a single-player.

As always, we are so proud and

Subnautica Living Large Update Released

Posted by Donya 1 year ago

Hello Subnauts,

We’re delighted to bring you the long-awaited 2.0 update to Subnautica across all platforms.

This update has been a labor of love for the entire Subnautica team. As you might have seen in some of our previous blog posts, a lot of time has been spent addressing a ton of tech debt and bringing across some improved code from Below Zero.

Our goal was always to bring both Subnautica and Below Zero onto unified versions of Unity, and with today’s update, that goal has been achieved. By doing this, we’ve been able to implement several quality of life features, fix many outstanding bugs, and introduce some performance improvements that were already available in Below Zero.

We’ve also added

An Update On Our Subnautica and Below Zero Plans

Posted by Donya 2 years ago

Hello Subnauts,

In our last major blog post, we outlined our current and future plans for the Subnautica series. We’ve been slowly and steadily chipping away at several items on that list and are thankful for your continued patience.

Some updates have made their way out already – including for the PS5, to address the disappearing saves and screen tearing – and we have a lot more still to come.

This blog post might get a little long, but if you stick it through to the end, we hope it’ll get you excited for what’s coming next.

What’s Next For The Subnautica Series?

Posted by Donya 2 years ago

Hello, Subnauts!

Since we launched Below Zero 1.0 – and Subnautica on Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series – back in May we’ve been in a non-stop loop of investigating and fixing bugs. And in late August, we also brought support to Below Zero in four new languages.

But there’s still a lot more to do, and we have plenty of things planned, so we wanted to let you know what else we’ve been up to and what you can expect from us in the coming months. Please think of this as a summary of our priorities – as you may already know we do not make many public commitments to specific dates.

What are we up to now?

Hi Subnauts!

It has been a couple of weeks since we last posted to our blog about the issues we’re focused on quickly resolving post-launch. We wanted to give you an update on where we’re at with various patches and investigations.

❗ Disclaimer ❗

As always, this isn’t everything we’re working on, and we appreciate your continued patience and support while we track down and fix these bugs.

Critical Issues:

[Subnautica – PS5] Screen Tearing

We see and hear your reports of excessive screen tearing on PS5. Some backstory here: v-sync was turned on during development but was creating a nauseating “rubber-band” like sensation due to performance (framerate) fluctuations. The solution we chose at the time

Subnautica and Below Zero Launch Week Development Priorities

Posted by Donya 3 years ago

Hi Subnauts!

We are overwhelmed by the reception to Below Zero’s launch on Friday, and the team is immensely proud that we were able to simultaneously bring the game to so many platforms. We’re also proud to have brought the original Subnautica to the PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch platforms as well. What a wild ride!

All that said, no launch is perfect, and the team has been keeping a close eye on issues that players have been reporting since the game’s launch. There are a few bugs that are particularly concerning for us, and we wanted to take a moment to review what those are and which ones are currently under investigation.

This isn’t everything we’re
